Several online retailers are currently providing a special limited-time package that includes a complimentary copy of Starfield–or in the case of Target, a game of your preference–when you purchase a brand-new Xbox Series X console.
Verizon’s version of the offer consists of a complimentary copy of Starfield and the Xbox Series X for $500 (usually $570). The promotion is exclusively available online, but it is open to everyone, even if you are not a Verizon customer. You can seize the deal on Verizon’s online store. Verizon provides free two-day shipping.
Target has a similar package deal when you purchase a new Xbox Series X–but instead of a specific game, customers have the opportunity to choose their complimentary game from a selection of eligible titles. There are numerous games to choose from, including Starfield, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, Diablo IV, and more. Target’s package is available for $500 online or in-store. In-store pickup, delivery, and shipping availability may vary.
If you are uncertain about which offer to choose, the obvious decision is whether you desire to purchase Starfield–if you do not want Starfield and would rather select a game yourself, opt for Target. However, if it is a matter of value, Verizon’s package may provide better savings since some games in Target’s package are less expensive than Starfield. That being said, as long as you choose a new $70 game like Mortal Kombat 1 or Madden NFL 24 from Target’s list, the savings are identical between the two packages.
It is also worth mentioning that Starfield is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Microsoft’s subscription service that grants access to hundreds of games and online multiplayer for $17/month. If you believe that you will want Game Pass regardless, it would be best to select a game from Target, such as any of the aforementioned titles, that is not available on Game Pass. To save a bit of money on Game Pass, consider purchasing a three-month Game Pass Ultimate subscription at Amazon for $45.
Target’s Xbox Series X with free game package offer expires on September 30. Verizon’s store page does not specify an end date for the offer, but it is safe to assume that it will not be available for an extended period. Verizon’s gaming console deals tend to sell out rapidly.
