Lies Of P Is Available Now On Xbox Game Pass

The release schedule for 2023 continues, although today’s launch is arriving earlier than anticipated. Deceptions Of P–the Soulslike action game with a Pinocchio theme developed by Neowiz Games and Round 8 Studios–is now accessible on Xbox Game Pass.

Aaron Greenberg, the vice president of games marketing at Xbox, made the surprise announcement on X, where he shared a picture of the game along with the message, “Surprise! Deceptions Of P is now available to play on Xbox Game Pass!” The game was originally set to launch tomorrow, September 19, as a day one addition to the subscription service.

Deceptions Of P puts players in the shoes of Pinocchio, a mechanical “marionette” who must battle against other marionettes and humans in his quest to find his creator, Geppetto. Unlike the other marionettes in the game’s world, Pinocchio possesses the ability to deceive, which he must utilize to his advantage as he navigates the perilous city of Krat.

The game launched on Xbox and Steam at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, while the PlayStation 5 version is set to unlock at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET tonight. GameSpot’s official review commended the game’s action despite its evident influences, stating “With its dark reinterpretation of Pinocchio and a breathtaking Belle Epoque era backdrop, Deceptions of P stands out even when its gameplay draws inspiration from others.”

Deceptions Of P is the most recent notable addition to the Xbox Game Pass library, joining Sea Of Stars, Starfield, and Solar Ash as recent day-one releases. On September 15, nine games also departed from the service, with Metal: Hellsinger and Civilization 6 being among the most significant departures.
